My Confession

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
— Hebrews 4:16

For 15 years of my life, I have come to recognize how weak and broken I am without God. This hymn has always been one of my favorite because it gave me so much comfort and confidence. Though I can't really see it, yet my soul know that He is there praying for me. When my soul was overwhelmed by temptation of my flesh and the sin that crippled me with shame and guilt, I could feel His love and grace pulling me out from junk and wash me over with His words of truth. I could feel His prayer working for me by His Holy Spirit drawing me into the center of the fellowship of The Trinity.

Today if you are feeling weak and broken, let the words of this hymn minister to your soul and let it become your confession. Remember there is One who is seated above with the Father, who is our Great High Priest making intercession for your faith. Draw near and cling on to Him.

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!
